TEMPLE BY TURNING TABLES
Part one

Upheval, an emotion that many of us do not embrace with open arms. In fact, we as human beings tend to do two things when the slightest possibility of upheval may occur. We resist the upheval until we give in to it or we mentally, physically, or spiritually die first. Sometimes we go as far as to eliminating the upheval altogether. In some cases, upheval is necessary in order to enact a change in our lives for a new and better walk with God. Sometimes, the upheval is an actual attack of Satan upon our lives. Therefore, one needs to use prayer and discernment when analyzing the upheval as being a working of God in one's life or as being an attack of the enemy.

One of the many definitions of the word upheval as listed in Webster's Dictionary is "To utter with a moan and or great pain". In other words, upheval is a process that brings much pain and stress upon ourself and others around us. Upheval is not a pretty sight to see nor is it an experience we embrace with open arms. One of the many reasons why we have a disdain towards the concept of upheval is because it violates our comfort zones, raises our benchmarks we establish, and changes the ways we look at ourselves, others, and the way we approach and accomplish things we set out to do. Even though most upheval will eventually bring us into better character, better relationship, and a better walk with God, we are appaled and sometimes disgusted as the "norm" we worked so hard to establish and maintain is about to be torn down and rebuilt into a purer and more solid lifestyle.

It is during this upheval that we fail to see that the changes going on around us are not permanent, but the change that comes out of the finished upheval is. Sometimes, the uphevals have to happen over and over again until we "get the point" and submit to God's inherent will for our lives. However, many of us eventually "get the point" and grow into the turbulent change for the better that will allow us to travel down the straighter and narrower road that is ahead of us known as the trailway to temple living. As that straighter and narrower road unwinds before us, we begin to realize that what was there is the present becomes gone. However, we forget that the straighter and narrower road behind us starts to wind back up behind us. That in itself is a good thing because in the Christian walk with God we need to stay on the straighter and narrower road and keep going towards the trailway to temple living.

Yes, on the trailway to temple living there are transitions that take place that bring us to the changes we need to be an obedient vessel unto God. It is during some of these transitions towards temple living that we crucify the fleshly lures of totems, taboos, tresspasses/transgressions, temptations, and tattoos, that desire to keep their established places within us. It is usually during these wars between the Holy Spirit and the sins of the flesh that the uphevals occur in our lives and in our bodies, the temple of the Holy Spirit. However, in the long run, the main purpose of the spiritual upheval is to clean out the temple housing the fleshly den of thieves that cheat, rob, and eventually sell out the anointing of the Holy Spirit that the flesh thinks it can cage up within us. If this sounds like an impossibility to clean and purge us, by our human attempts it is. However, with God, all things are possible.
