TEMPLE BY TRANSFORMATION
Part four

In 2 Kings, chapter two, we see Elijah, in his last days walking with Elisha. Throughout the first eight verses, we see othe prophets state that Elijah was going to be taken away from the earth. Finally, in verse nine, the prophet Elijah asked "What can I do for you before I am taken away?" And Elisha replied, that he wanted a double portion of the Spirit that was on Elijah. Elijah acknowledges the difficult task but gives Elisha the condition for receiving the double portion. We see Elisha fulfilling the condition Elijah stated in verses eleven through thirteen . Elisha then, with the cloak of Elijah, struck the Jordan river where it split in two and Elisha crossed the Jordan River. A transformation and change had now taken place in Elisha's life and the prophets of Jericho saw it. They claimed Elisha as the successor of Elijah in reference to the prophetic mantle but they were so caught up in the nostalgia of Elijah that they wanted to search for Elijah to the displeasure of Elisha. Elisha said no but when pestered gave in to their request to send out fifty men to look for the body of Elijah.

In verse seventeen and eighteen, we see that fifty men searched for three days for the body of Elijah and when they got back to Jericho, the prophet Elisha told them "Didn't I tell you not to go?". Here wesee a serious problem, the transition from one prophetic mantle of Elijah to another prophetic mantle of Elisha had occured. During the transition, we saw the change in Elisha from a man with a single annointing to a man who received a double portion of Elijah's spirit. We have a group of prophets who saw the transition, but still wanted to hold on to some nostalgic remain of the past. The transition was seen from Elijah to Elisha, but they failed to see the transformation of a double annointing on Elisha's life because they tried to hold on to their past because the past was so comfortable for them. Many leaders within an old move of God clearly recognize a transition from a move of God to another move of God. For some reason, they are so nostalgic towards the past move that they fail to see the transformation that had to take place in a person's life to go to the next move of God. If you read the Scriptures in reference to Elijah and Elisha, the Scriptures record Elisha performing twice as many miracles as Elijah. Therefore, the transformation had to take place to where more of God's power could flow out and reach more peoples to spread the good news of hope in God. And in many instances, transformation has to take place in order for God to use someone in a more powerful way.

A lyric from a famous progressive rock song stated that "He knows changes aren't permanent, but change is". This is a very true concept to the Christian walk. The changes we go through are not the permanent imprint on our life. Instead the complete change in being from one state of a Christian walk to another state in our Christian walk is the permanent fixture in our life. Even though the transformation usually occurs during a transition process, the transitions are temporary, but the transformation of one's being is permanent.

In summary, change is a constant concept that the Christian of today must embrace with open arms. It is through the periods of an "out with the old, in with the new" experience in Christ that one experiences the transformation from being a powerful believer in Christ to being a more powerful servant of Jesus. Even after the transformation into the more powerful child of God has taken place, the source of the power in your life still comes from God. Also, it is through the end results of this change that God is preparing you for another transition to bring about more transformation. The process never ends. However the change remains because the change is the building block for deeper change and holiness in one's life to usher forth more of God's power to the nations. It is the change by transformation that the renewing of the mind occurs. It is also by the transformation that the totems, taboos, transgressions, temptations, and tattoos are further driven out along with the corrupt moneychangers and merchants and despised in order to have a cleaned temple where praise can resident and a living and holy sacrifice can be performed.

Lord, right now in the name of Jesus, I ask that you would take us through this process of transforming with your power by the renewing of our minds. Help us to embrace change that occurs and not embrace the nostalgia of a blessing gone by. Lord, help us to see ourselves and to judge our self-esteem by the way you see us and not by our strengths and weaknesses pointed out by other people. We desire for you to change us and we realize that the power and the source of change comes from you Lord. I therefore ask that you would purify us and change us to where we can receive more power to do your will Lord. In Jesus name I pray, AMEN!.
