The R.O.S.E.S. Have T.H.O.R.N.S.
Part Four

In summary, every move of God has had some good and also some bad within the movement. Even though I have mentioned the good things of the Pentecostal / Charismatic movement using R.O.S.E.S. and the bad things of the Pentecostal / Charismatic movement using T.H.O.R.N.S., does this make the Pentecostal / Charismatic movement and the byproduct of spiritual gifts, tongues, worship, etc. wrong?

NO!

We need to find the balance within the movement and be Berean and verify that this is according to Scriptures. Every move of God had it's problems. This move has it's problems and the real future moves of God will experiences extremes and problems. From Paul dealing with Galatians that tried to re-legalize us, to priests that forced people to pay for repentance, to modern day Charismatics who believe that signs and wonders must be in service at all times, the issues of extremes will be something that has to be dealt with and addressed. However, the basic Biblical concepts that had been forgotten was re-established.

I will have to say that the Pentecostal / Charismatic / Third Wave / Riverite movements has created some of the most dysfunctional organizations and 'disciples' Christianity has seen. From churches who try to solve the drug problem on fourth street from their sanctuaries on twentieth street via 'spiritual mapping' to people who believe they must find demons within everyone and cast them out, this move of God like the other moves before is long remembered for it's excesses and abuses rather than the rediscovery of a Biblical concept until the time the move came forth was no longer taught. The disgraces and abuses outweigh the actual move of God. Even though this move saw themselves as the 'purified remnant', it will go down in history like every move before it. This move will see the speck in another denomination's eye and use it to claim themselves as a 'superior remnant of holiness' while failing to see the plank in their eyes that represent the faults, abuses, and heresies within their own move of God.

If we expect any move of God to completely weed out the abuses, heresies, disgraces, and shame that is from within the movement, we may be stagnant for the rest of lives. Church history has shown us that none of the past moves of God were unable to totally and completely prevent the excesses and abuses. Therefore, why should we expect that future moves of God will be able to fully prevent the excesses and abuses. In fact, we see in 1 Corinthians 11:19 where it states that "For there must also be factions among you that those who are approved may be recognized among you." Even though this particular verse was directed at the church at Corinth, we could apply this to any move of God. Even though division can be a bad and messy thing, one of the best things that can come out of division is that the longer these things manifest, a true and discerning Christian will obviously begin to see who the genuine Christians are within a movement and who is not genuine. Even Jesus stated in Matthew 13:29-30 in response to why the wheat and tares grew in the same soil together and if someone should go out and uproot the tares now that "No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but then gather the wheat into my barn." I read on a Bible study site online that in the beginning of the harvest, the wheat and tares look very similar to the point that if one went out at the beginning of harvest to pluck the tares, he would most likely get some good wheat in the process. Therefore, by letting both the wheat and tares grow until the time of harvest, one can then tell better what plant is the tare and what plant is the wheat. The same is true within a move of God. As that move of God progresses and grows until the time of the spiritual harvest, the difference between the wheat within a move of God and the tare within a move of God become so distinguishable that one can easily pluck the tares out and bind them first and then harvest the wheat for consumption. By allowing the wheat and the tares to grow together, we are not 'endorsing' the actions of the tare. Instead, we wait and see the tare manifest to where the tare would be so obvious that we pluck out and deal with the tare instead of accidentally killing the wheat.

Even though the roses have thorns on the life-giving stem, we have somehow managed to find a way to pick up the rose and enjoy the beauty within the rose. How do we do this? Very easy, we look for a part of the rose's stem that does not have the thorns and place our fingers there to grab the rose. Even though the R.O.S.E.S. have numerous T.H.O.R.N.S., we can at least look to find a place on the stem to where we can embrace the beauty and good things that come from within the R.O.S.E.S. Stop and smell the R.O.S.E.S. while being aware of the T.H.O.R.N.S. in order not to be pricked.

Father God, right now in the name of Jesus, I ask that you will bless your people with your love, mercy, and grace. I ask that you would allow these moves of God to grow along with the tares to where the difference between wheat and tare becomes more distinguishable. Some good came out of this move while some bad manifested. I ask that we remember more of the good things that came forth instead of the bad while at the same time not denying the bad and dealing with the bad. All these things I ask in Jesus name, AMEN!
