THE COMIC COSMIC
Part one

Spiritual warfare is a Biblical concept that has existed throughout the ages. The Bible has many numerous things to say about spiritual warfare, spiritual powers, spiritual wickness, wrestling not against flesh and blood, etc. Since the Bible is the infallible Word of God and the Bible does mention spiritual warfare and spiritual armor, etc., it can be stated clearly that the Biblical concept of spiritual warfare is truth. However, there is a fine line between the true Biblical call of spiritual warfare and many of the vast interpretations of what the Biblical definition of spiritual warfare really is. Throughout the years with the emergence of such Christian eras such as Latter Rain, Shepherding, Word of Faith, Charismatic, Third Wave, River, etc. we have seen an increased awareness of the need for spiritual warfare and also at the same time the increased "methodologies" on how to perform spiritual warfare.

These so called revolutionary "God revealed methodologies" are now being propogated throughout books, tapes, seminars and the Internet today. In the past, this e-zine has addressed some of these methods and philosophies specifically in numerous articles such as Vival, Warfare Gone Wacko, and Christian Cartography. I have talked in the past about the armor of God, spiritual mapping, our fascination of controlling something no one else can see tangible reults, the types of people who thrive in spiritual warfare, and also other "unorthodox" techniques many people have done in the name of "spiritual warfare" and "clearing out the heavenlies". I will further in this article bring up some more types of spiritual warfare as I analyze these new methods and discuss further the fascination with spiritual warfare.

Ever since September 11, 2001, there has been an increase of Spiritual activity and an increase of physical manifestations based on spiritual activities. Between the constant struggle of Christianity versus Islam and the attempted blending of the two different religions together by postmodernists, the rising of the price of gas and motor oil (and it's possible that our oil-baron president and his family who owns many oil wells and refineries has aided in this for his own selfish interests), the increased fighting in the Middle East, and America's copout excuse to use 9-11-01 as a reason to layoff people, jack airline fares, raise gas prices, bail out the airline industry and broadway at the taxpayers expense, etc. Some Christian ministries have used 9-11-01 as a fear tool to motivate people to "more repentance", claim we deserved this tragedy due to our idolotry of our economic might and lack of repentance and blamed it on the homosexuals and our inability to reverse Rowe v. Wade (abortion) and our inability to place prayer in the public schools, rewrite "AntiChrist of The Week" books, videos, and tapes, and sound the alarm that their ministry is going bankrupt because they encouraged people to give to relief organizations and giving to their ministry decreased. In fact, the latest Barna Report dated April 9, 2002 entitled "Americans Were More Generous in 2001 Than in 2000" clearly shows that there was more giving in 2001 and more of the giving went into local churches and relief organizations than to the televangelists. The spiritual battle has immensed in the lives of many Christians as many Christians have expressed to me (and me to God and others) the increased temptations, the increased arrogance, the increased fear, etc. In cyberspace, hacking, denial of service, ping floods, viruses, and other network attacks have risen and increased dramatically after 9-11-01.

We can choose to blame everything that is negative on some "spirit" or where poor personal choices are involved, we can choose to take responsibility for those poor personal choices. There is this mentality to blame everything on "that devil", "some spiritual force beyond my control", "the demon of hindrance of my hundredfold blessing", etc. because it becomes easy to push our responsibility of poor choices we made on the "unseen" making the tangible less tangible. Blame is shifted and denial has been implemented as we see ourselves like a marionette on strings controlled by powers we can not perceive or we take the Flip Wilson character "Geraldine" mentality of "the devil made me do it". No! In the realm of poor personal choices, we chose those choices, actually we chose make a choice and we must be man or woman enough to accept the responsibility and consequences of those choices. It is after we discern and make the defined distinguishment between a poor personal choice and an spiritual attack from the enemy that we can begin to rectify poor personal choices or if it is a true spiritual attack, go to war in a proper Biblical manner using proper Biblical methods.
