Michael has done it again with his post entitled A Contrarian Manifesto for the Church Growth Debate where he has shown us the pattern that all these ‘church growth’ movements never worked. They were a ‘ways and means’ to the “ends” that these church growth experts wanted. Then again, Pentecostalism has showed us the past fifty years that the ‘ways and means’ did not matter as long as the ‘ends’ was successfully obtained. However, we see that the “ends” are now crumbling because the foundational “ways and means” was built on a sinking sand of experiences, running around the church, do’s-and-dont’s, Southern Gospel singings, Fried Chicken dinners, and catch phrazes that blew away when the winds and storms came.
